PERSONAL. Mrs. Percy Cox (Hawera) is the guest of Mrs. T. A. Milroy. Mrs. Barthorp and Mias Beryl Barthorp have returned from Auckland. Miss G. Morey leaves next week by the Ulimaroa for AustraliaMrs. Courtney has returned from Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. McKellar leaves on Tuesday for Wellington. Madame Winnie Fraser and Miss Mina Caldovv (Wellington) will stay at the White Hart during their visit to New Plymouth. Miss Anderson (Wellington), leader of the orchestra of the Royal Choral Society, will be the guest of Mrs. Rex. Brewster. Mrs. Newton (Christchurch) is staying with Airs. Hugh Fraser. Mrs. Noel Fookes has returned to Stratlord. Airs. Harry Horrocks (Auckland) is epending several weeks hgre and is staying at the Terminus. Miss Evie Fookes was hostess at a jazz party last night. Miss Eva Armstrong (Whakatane) is the guest of Mrs. A. Alexander. Mrs. E. Carthew has returned from Auckland. * * The Wellington Choral Society arrive by the 4 p.m. train this afternoon, and are being met by their various hosts and hostesses at the station. Mrs. Stocker and Mrs. J. S. Medley leave for Wellington on Monday. Miss D. Walsh (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs. G. S. Millar. Dr. and Mrs. W. Wade leave early next week for a trip to Rotorua and Auckland. Mrs. Cork, who has been spending a few days here, has returned to Wanga-’ nui. Miss Eileen Davies left for Nelson on Wednesday. Mrs. Howard (Stratford) is spending the week-end with Mrs. T. A. Mliroy. Mrs. McGregor (Waverley) is staying with Mrs. Roulston. Miss Ina Dempsey left on Wednesday for Wellington to continue her work as masseuse. * Miss Evelyn Fox, who returned from England in ’ the Rimutaka, arrives in New Plymouth to-night. Miss A. Scully, who has been spending a few days here, left on Wednesday afternoon for Hawera. Mrs. Gordon Fraser was hostess at a children’s party yesterday afternoon. Mrs. C. H. Burgees entertains the members *of the Royal Choral Society at Hapurunui to-morrow afternoon. The Victoria League arc making arrangements for a rose tea next Friday afternoon, when members and all those interested are invited to bring a gift for the children in hospital at Christmas time. Perhaps boys and girls will again give their spare books and toys or pretty pictures for the librarian to put in the scrap books which are being made at the league rooms. W.C.T.U. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth W.C.T.U. was held in the White, ley bible-class room on Wednesday. The president (Airs. Griffin) was in the chair. The reports of the work done during the past year were gratifying. The membership is now 200. The treasurer’s report showed receipts £7O 3s and expenditure £57 17s, leaving a balance of £l2 6s. The following officers Were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs. Griffin; correspondence secretary, Mrs. Scott; minutes secretary, Mrs. Dickson; treasurer, Miss Taunt; white ribbon reporter, Mrs. Hawkins; superintendent, evangelistic, Airs. Martin; superintendent, home meetings, Airs. Fischer; superintendent, Maori work, Airs. Lpveridge; superintendent, cradle roll. Miss Ambury; superintendent, peace and arbitration, Airs. Gilliver; superintendent, flower and philanthropic work, Airs. Wilkie. Work in connection with election day ■ was discussed and arranged. I The next Dominion convention is to be held at Invercargill. WEDDING. A very pretty wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, on November 27, the contracting parties being Mr. William Joseph Murray, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. .1. Murray, of Uruti, and Miss Gwendolyn Annie Weston, fifth daughter of Mr. and Airs. H. Weston, of Waitara (late of Inglewood The Ven. Archdeacon F. G. Evans officiated. and AW. Renaud kindly played the Wedding "March. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very pretty oyster grey tailor-made costume, with lemon silk knitted jumper and hat to match, and carried a shower bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. Miss May Weston, who attended her sister as bridesmiad. wore a dainty frock of lemon crepe-de-chine, trimmed with silver and blue beads and an electric blue picture hat, and carried a bouquet of -blue and lemon flowers. Mr. Roy Fitzgerald, of Urenui. carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a re- ' ception was held by the parents of the | bride.
