BURNSIDE STOCK MARKET ENHANCED PRICES REALISED. Dunedin, Nov. 28. Fat cattle were in short supply at Burnside sales to-day, and as a result of spirited bidding enhanced prices were realised* Prices showed an advance of fully 12s 6d to 30s per head above last week’s rates. Fat Sheep.—There was a moderate entry of sheep, 1948 head composed principally of heavy and lightweights, good medium class sheep being scarce. Competition was very keen, and prices, all round, showed an advance of about 2s per head as compared with last week’s rate. Light, shorn wethers realised from 5%d to 5%d per pound, heavy ditto s'%d to 5-Hd, and ewe mutton 4d to 4%d. Extra prime heavyweight woolly wethers realised from 48s 6d to 535, prime 38s to 46s 9d, medium 24s 6d to 355, extra prime heavyweight shorn wethers 38s 6d to 425, prime 30s to 37s 7d, medium 24s to 29s 3d, prime woolly Cwea realised up to 50s, medium 35s to 455, lighter sorts up to 28s 6d, prime shorn ewes up to 355, medium 20s 9d to 30s 6d. Fat Cattle.—l4o head were penned, as against 209 last week. Owing to the small yarding prices advanced from 12s fid to 30s per head. Good light weight bullocks realised 31s tn 34s per 100 lb, extra heavy 28s to 30s, extra prime heifers 25s to 27s 6d, cows and light heifers 20s to 22s 6d, heavy prime bullocks made from £l3 2s 6d to £l6, prime from £l2 12s to £l3 15s, medium £lO to £l2, lighter sorts from £8 to £9, prime sows and heifers £5 15s to £6 10s. Store Cattle.—A medium yarding, which included a few pens of three and four-year-old bullocks from the Waimate district. These were not in a very forward condition, and sold up to £6 13s per head. There was a very poor demand far young, cattle and halffat cow?, and many were passed unsold. Pigs.—A large yarding, all classes being represented. There was a keen demand for prime baebhers. Best baconers realised from fid to 6%, and best porkers from 7d to 7%d per lb. Fat Lambs.—2so lambs were offered, which, was the largest entry this season. Competition was brisk, but prices were easier to the extent of . about Is fld per head, while per pound prices worked out nt: Prime B%d to 9d and medium 8d to B%d. Prime lambs made up to 38s 6d, medium to 28s 6d, light kinds to 255. Dairy Cows.—About 30 head of dairy cattle were offered, but none of the animals were of astonishing merit. Good cows realised from £9 to. £lO. and medium sorts from £5 12s Rd. to £7. There was. a large entry of pigs, which met with a brisk demand at prices about equal to those realised at' the previous sale.
