The secretary of the Farmers’ Union in the Wairarapa supples the following figures: — A Wairarapa farmer exported 66 bullocks and 6 cows last season and has juat received his returns, which work out ns follows: Freezing charges. £228 10s 7d; railage to Wellington, £36 5s 2d; marine insurance, £27 14s 4d; bill of lading and exchange. £6 15s 8d; freight to London, £323 0; sd; storage, £65 18s 6d; London charges for landing, port rates, storage, delivery, fire and strike insurance, £'257 8a Id; total, £945 12s 9d. , Credits: 2342 lb fat. £2 As 10d;. <2 hides, £52 4s Od: tongues and tails, _£B Ils 6d; one quarter condemned, 6s‘ 7<b sale of 41,185 lb meat in London, £537 7s 8d; total £6OO 18s 7d; loss £344 14s 2d. The farmer had to huy the 66 bullocks and 6 cowa at a cost of £678: ,if this is added on his total loss will be £1022. _ Another farmer bought 59 bullocks at £l5 per head; it cost him £3 per head to fatten them, making them £lB per head, or £1062 for the line. He exported them and on getting his returns found that freezing, freight, selling and other charges was £265 10s more than the meat brought in London. His lose then was £1062 (the cost of the bullocks) plus £260 10s loss on the sale of the meat.
