EX-SULTAN’S FINANCES.

Advices from Constantinople stated that the ex-Sultan, three days before leaving, withdrew £'70,000 Turkish pounds and deposited it in the Ottoman Bank in his name. He also obtained from the bank an advance of £50,W0 on the security of jewels. ALL-IN.DIA CONGRESS. Delhi, November 25. After four days’ discussion the All India Congress Committee at Calcutta failed to achieve unanimity on the question whether non-co-operators should be allowed to participate in the election of Legislatures with the object of weakening the reforms. The question was finally referred to the National Congress at Gaya on the 27th and also the question of boycotting British goods. ■FRENCH WOMEN SUFFAGISTS. Paris, November 24. Women suffragist leaders, are advocating that women should refuse to pay taxes until they receive votes. GREEK MILITARY CABINET. Athens, November 25. Colonel Gonatas has formed a military Cabinet, including some members of the revolutionary committee. GERMAN MINISTER RESIGNS. Berlin, November 25. Herr Mueller, Minister of Food, has resigned. EX-PREMIER AS PENMAN. London, November 24. Mr. Lloyd George has contracted to write a series of articles on international affairs for the United Press of America, commencing early in December. MORE PRESENTS FOR POPE. Rome, November 26. The citizens of Milan, where the Pope w r as formerly Bishop, have arranged to present him with a tiara of three crowns of pure gold, enriched with emeralds and pearls and ornamented with silver filagree. The tiara is 14 inches high and weighs 36 ounces, and contains 2600 precious stones. There are four tiaras already at the Vatican. The Milan presentation will be the most beautiful ever worn by any Pope. The people of Milan recently presented the Pope with the first motor-car owned by a Roman Pontiff. ITALIAN POLITICS. Rome, November 26. The Chamber has adjourned sine die after voting by 275 to 90 in favour of Signor Mussolini having full power to deal with financial and administrative reform. CHINESE FINANCIAL WORRIES. Peking, November 27. The House of Representatives, by 262 to 39, adopted a resolution impeaching .Wang Chung Huao and Wellington Koo on the ground that they participated in signing the so-called Austrian loan in connection with the Finance Minister Lo Wen Kan, who has been arrested. EXPLOITING RUSSIAN TRADE. , London, November 27. Mr. Leslie Urquhart admits that he negotiated an agreement with Krupps, under which a number of British firms will furnish three-quarters of the capital required, amounting to .millions, for the exploitation of Krupps’ concessions in Rusfia. CANADA AND EMPIRE EXHIBITION. London, November 27. The Times, in a leader commenting on Canada’s indecision regarding the Empire Exhibition, says the exhibition executive must at all costs avoid any attitude towards integral portions of the Empire which might suggest lack of sympathy with their ideals, insufficient knowledge of their resources or disregard of their material interests. An unequivocal statement should be promptly issued reaffirming the principles which will govern every arrange, roent which may be made. REMAKING EUROPE. London, November 27. Mr. Amery, speaking at King’s College, and referring to European reconstruction, said what he belived the present Government intended to do was to lend a helping hand on any practical lines of those whom we fought during the war. Apart from such neeeseary and help as we con'd give from time to time, our chief task should be not to concern ourselves so much with European reconstruction as with economic recovery, and the reconstructtion of the British Empire.
