A MYSTERY SOCIETY.
KLU KLUX KLAN CONDEMNED. By Telegraph.—Press Aasn. —Copyright. New York, Nov. 27. There has been persistent and most widely displayed news in the American newspapers for the past fortnight in regard to Klu Klux Klan, and it promises to hold public attention. Mr. Hylan, Mayor of New York, has ordered the Police Commissioner to treat the Klan as he would bombthrowers and not to permit the. organisation to undertake any activities in the city. Two prominent divines, heads ot noted Protestant Churches, have replied, defending the Klan and announcing that the canvass for members will progress despite all opposition, and will be extended to Canada and Britain. Governor Allen, of Kansas, has ordered the State District Attorney to take State-wide legal action against the Klan, to withdraw its charter and to prosecute all members. The Klan held a meeting m Atlanta, Georgia, attended by delegates from all parts of the country. There is great mystery surrounding the discussions, hiit it is understood the Klan is considering means to protect the organisation ■ against attack. Popular feeling against the Klan is high.
