PREFERENTIAL TARIFF.
AUSTRALIA AND CANADA. Ottawa, Nov. 20. Canada is greatly interested, in Mr. Robb’s visit to Australia, it being felt tliat a trade agreement on a preferential basis is likely to result, especially in view of the American tariff. The. Montreal Star says there are many products which can be exchanged between the two countries with mutual benefit. The Australian authorities will certainly reveal wide scope for trade extension. It is desirable to build up commerce between two British Dominions in preference to commerce between •one Dominion and a foreign country. The American tariff wall may prove our greatest benefactor yet.
