SAVAGE CLUB.
SPECIAL KORERO IN EMPIRE THEATRE. Many people—-wives and sweethearts for the most part —have expressed a natural curiosity as to what actually takes place at ft -Savage Club korero. The Impression is abroad that mysterious rites and ceremonies are practised by the savages—rites calculated to ipspire awe, and ceremonies to excite wonderment —and in most quarters grave doubts are entertained as to the desirability of husbands becoming members of a Savage Club. On the evenin” of Monday, the 27th inst., the veil is to be lifted for a brief space, and the curious will have an unique opportunity of viewing the New Plymouth Savages in their pah—transported for the occasion to the Empire Theatre—of listening to the outpourings of the rangatira, the awesome cacophony of the Savage Orchestra. Savage dances are a feature of these wild gatherings, and the fearsome gesticulations and blood-curdling howls of the dancers are things to ibe long remembered. The chief desideratum in a .Savage is his power to entertain, and in the ranks of the Nui Paramata Hapu are to be found the best of local artiste, who, when unhampered by considerations of politeness and etiquette rise to heights undreamed of on ordinary occasions. Without a doubt the promised entertainment will be the best thing that has happened to New Plymouth in years. Box plans for this special korero will open at Collier’s on Thursday morning next, November 23. Prices 3s (reserved) and 2s.
