MATCH AGAINST VICTORIA. THE VISITORS DEFEATED. A GREAT FIGHT. By Telegraph.—Frew Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 20, 8.20 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 20. The match between A. C. MacLaren’e English team and Victoria was continued to-day. The weather was muggy and there was an attendance of three thousand. Tn their first innings England made 210 and. Victoria replied with 278, and when stumps were drawn on Saturday England had two wickets down for 100 in their second innings. 'On resuming to-day* Titchmarsh (57 not out), batted stylishly. He hit six fours. Chapman occupied the crease for 9.» minutes, and hit four fours and one six. He made his last 50 runs in 30 minutes. Hartkoff, bowling to leg, developed a big spin. Victoria had three hours in which to make the runs, and they made 164 for the loss of eight wickets with 15 minutes from time. Victoria thus won by two wickets. Willis batted for 45 minutes and hit seven fours.

The Englishmen made a great fight, and were freely congratulated. They might have won if the chances given by Ellis, when three, and Hartkoff, when one. had been accepted by Calthorpo and Gibson respectively. Details: — VICTORIA.
