THE TARANAKI SEATS.
‘ LEADERS’ VIEWS. At Auckland, last week, Mr. T. M. Wilford said: “I Y ece * news last- nigut that the Taranaki committee is satisfied that Taranaki will be Liberal from New Ply' mouth to Wanganui, when the returns come in. My news from the South Island is also encouraging.” Mr. Parr sent on to Mr. Massey the electioneering message in the Taranaki telegram, and received from the Prime Minister the following reply: “The telegram respecting Stratford, read by Leader of the Opposition, is at best only the personal expression of opinion of a political partisan. The meeting I addressed at Stratford was the largest political meeting held in the town, at which the greatest enthusiasm was displayed, and a vote of thanks and confidence carried unanimously. There are good grounds for predicting that after December 7 the Reform banner will be found flying over a united Taranaki. The other criticism regarding individual Ministers is paltry in the extreme, and indicates that the speaker must have been hard pushed to find material to attack the Government.”
