METHODIST SYNOD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, November 17. The Auckland Methodist District Synod decided to recommend the conference that all invitations to ministers tc remain in circuits after the third year sha.ll be carried by a bare majority, instead of a two-thirds majority of those meeting. PAPER FROM NEW ZEALAND MILLS. Wellington, November 17. A report just to hand from the Imperial Institute gives the result of the examination of eight New Zealand treea for paper-making purposes. Four were, species of fagus, one tawa, and one racemora. AH were integenous. The other two were pinus laricio and radiata, now being largely planted. All are considered Suitable for pulpmaking, but the pine®, on account of the prevalence of knots, would require special-treatment. The wood® of other trees could be mixed, but the pines could not.
