Mr. C. E. Bellringer speaks at Hillsborough to-night. Meetings for ladies are announced to be held at Mr. H. T. Hall’s residence, Brixton, at 2 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon and at the Bel'. Block Hall on “Wednesday at 1.50 p.m. Many exhibitors are patiently tending their best plants with a view to exhibiting specially choice blooms at the New Plymouth Horticultural Show on November 30 and December 1. It is hoped that many new exhibitors will take heart of grace and enter the lists (hie year. They will find that it will give an increased interest in their gardening operations. Full particulars of the competitions are contained in the schedules and there is an advertisement in this issue. Particulars of Farquhar’s great clearing sale of boots and clothing at Inglewood, -which will be found in our advertising columns, will be of interest to keen buyers. The sale commences today. The special Bible lectures recently delivered by Yfr. J. Spottiswoode, evangelist from Auckland, created such interest and attention, that arrangements have been made for a further series for two weeks. "Mr. Spottiswoode will commence on Sunday, at 7 p.m., in the Assembly Hall, Robe Street, and the subject will be “The Prevailing Darkness and the Shining Light.” Also advertised elsewhere are his-subjects for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. All are welcome to these meetings.

The Rev. Howard Elliott is no doubt one of the most fearless and eloquent speakers in New Zealand to-day, and the meeting under the auspices of the Protestant Political Association to be addressed by him on the 20th inst. will no doubt attract a large crowd.
