BETTER BUSINESS.

TRADE OF NEW ZEALAND. SIGNS OF RECOVERY. CONFIDENCE RETURNING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 16, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 15, Mr. R. W/ Dalton, until recently British Trade Commissioner in Mbw Zealand, reporting on New Zealand trade, emphasises the recuperative power of the Dominion, owing to New Zealand’s size, and he says that any slight improvement in the United Kingdom is reflected by a much greater improvement in New Zealand trade. The moratorium on mortgages and deposits undoubtedly saved the Dominion from a very severe financial crisis. Meanwhile heavy stocks of imports have been largely liquidated, without important disaster. The cost or living was falling and a feeling of confidence was spreading. Though the 1922 imports will show a heavy decrease, firms may confidently expect increases in business during the next eighteen months. Mr. Dalton points out that the new tariff gives practical expression to New Zealand’s desire to trade with Britain to the fullest possible extent. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
