Land dressed with lime cracks less a freely, and it helps to break down stiff clods, so that a tilth is more easily obtained. It neutralises acidity in the soil, sweetening sour lands. X By encouraging clover and lucerne it increases the nitrate content of 4* soils. It opens up clay soils, making them less retentive of water. It X x binds the particles of light or sandy soils together, making them more 4» retentive of moisture. It increases the granulation, making the land I work more freely.
