John iEmerson, drover of Eltham, who meets his creditors to-day, owes £BO 2s to John Lynksey, hotelkeeper, Waverley, and £l5 15e to Messrs O’Dea and Bayley, solicitors, Hawera. He sets his assets out as a horse and. f two dogs. “I was boarding at the Waverley .Hotel for close on six years,” Emerson explains in his statement. “Daring the last six or seven months of my residence' there I was out of employment practically all the time and was unable to pay my board. Recently 1 obtained work with Mr. A. O. Gower, of Eltham, and have been earning £2 5s per week. So far, however, I have been unable to pay the board account of Mr. Lynskey and he has taken out a judgment summons against me and threatened to put me in prison. As I am unable to pay this debt immediately and do not want to be imprisoned I have been forced to file.” A gig and harness worth £lO are the total assets of Frank Hickey, foreman, of Kaponga, who, according to a statement to be submitted/ to his creditors to-morrow, has a deficiency in his bankrupt estafte of £458 3-a 4d. There is a contingent balance from a share-milking contract with E. J. Stanford, but is stated to be not assessable. He owes £309 Is 3d to unsecured creditors, £l3O to the Farmers’ Cooperative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., Hawera,—the only secured creditor—and £29 2s Id, being a contingent liability as guarantor of his wife, Annie Hickey, to Thomas Buddle Crump.
