LEVEL CROSSING CRASH.

LORRY-DRIVER KILLED. By Telegraph.—Pres? Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The up Napier mail train collided with a motor-lorry at the level crossing near Awapuni, about 12.45 p.m. The driver of the lorry, Robert Paul Oppatt, was killed, ™d a boy named Cecil Jones, who was with him, suffered a fractured thigh. Jones warned Oppatt of the train’s approach, but the latter did not hear him and drove on to the line jn front of the train. The lorry was hit side on and was smashed to pieces. Oppatt leaves a wife and three children.
