MARRIED THREE TIMES.
I FIRST HUSBAND APPEARS CHARGE OF BIGAMY FAILS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Laat Night. At the Supreme Court, Lena Bright, alias Lena Raymond, was found guilty of bigamy. When the foreman announced the verdict His Honor (Mr. Justice Reed) said: “Well, gentlemen, if you can reconcile that with your consciences it’s your business, not mine.” Accused married John Alfred Chaney in 1887. In 1902, not having heard of her husband for nine years, she married Otto Herman Raymond, the defence contending the lapae of years protected accused. Chaney turned up six days after the marriage and died a week later. Accused married a third time, a man. named Bright, and this marriage waa considered legal, as the second to Raymond was not, Chaney (the husband) being then alive. Accused was therefore a widow after his death and free to marry Bright.
