VIOLONCELLO WINS FISHER PLATE. A REMARKABLE RECORD, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 12, 5.5 p.i/n. Melbourne, Nov. 12. The weather was fine and bright yesterday for the fourth day of the V.R.C. meeting. The attendance was large and the going good. The favprlte. Prince Tressady, won the Batman Stakes well from Anton King, who led into the straight. Prince Tressady cost £lOOO as a yearling, and gave Mr. W. Dunean his first win of the meeting. The New Zealand-bred horse. The Monk, was always well up in the Flemington Stakes and won brilliantly. He cost Mr. George Tye £l6OO at the Koatanui yearling sale. He was trained by Cecil Godby and was ridden by F. Dempsey. Easingwold made all the early pace in the Fisher Plate. Violoncello led from the distance, where Tangalooma strongly challenged. The time, 2mln. 33%5ec., is only three-quarters of a second outside the race record. The last six furlongs were done In Imin. 12%sec., the lust four In 47%5ec., and the last mile In Imin. 39%sec. This is Violoncello's fourth successive win. Brilliant Sunshine made a lot of pace in the V.R.C. Handicap and led into the straight. The Cypher was eighth early In the race, but finished brilliantly from the turn and won easily. Time, 2mln. 58%sec.—an Australian record. The last mile was> done In Imin. 39% sec., the last six furlongs in Imin. and the last, four in 48%sec. The Cypher was bought at a high price by Mr. E. Eccles, of Auckland, In January. Cotswold, who had a great lead in the Steeples, tired away to nothing in the straight Plmpara, who was hopelessly last early in the race, finished with a great run and won brilliantly. STRATFORD RACING CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Stratford Racing Club was held on Wednesday, the Sth instant, there being present: Messrs. S. Pitt (chairman), J. B. Richards. V. Smith, D. J. Malone, C. B. Walsh, A. Stewart, and M. McDonald. Mr. Richards reported that in company with the chairman he had Interviewed the stationmaster and imade application for train arrangement’s similar to last year. The report of the catering committee was read and adopted. The matter of bar licenses was discussed. It was resolved that these matters be brought up for further consideration at the next meeting. With reference to- the totalisator management, it was resolved that Mr. D. J. Malofie represent the club in conjunction with Mr. Skoglund at the forthcoming conference to be held on the 13th instant. The sub-committee reported that another section had been acquired in tho Stratford extension. ) * Two resignations were accepted. It was resolved that the first motor paddock bo reserved for use of itnembeca* cars only. It was recommended that the application of Eric.
