THE DAVIS CUP.

PLAYING IN TWO SECTIONS. THE VIEWS OF AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received November 9, 8.40 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 9. The Australian Tennis Asocration, while willing to agree to the American proposal for grouping the challenging nations into geographical groups in future Davis Cup competitions, thinks it would be very ill-advised to agree to any amendment of the regulations that would include Australia among the nations in the Pacific zone, and also fix Honolulu as the most convenient site for the match that would determine the nation to play off with the winners, of the European zone. The association considers the gate receipts from matches at Honolulu would be very small compared with matches played in Australia. New Zealand or Japan, and would be totally inadequate to defray the travelling expenses of the touring team. CONFERENCE IN LONDON. INTERNATIONAL GATHERING. Received November 9, 8.40 p.m. New York, Nov. 8. The proposal to divide the Davis cup competitions into geographical zones will be acted upon at the international conference at London on December 30, called by the United States Tennis Association to consider the general revision of the Davis Cup regulations. It will be followed by a sec-cud conference under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation to discuss the playing rules and adopt a new international code.
