CRICKET.

COUNTRY ASSOCIATION. SATURDAY'S MATCHES. , The opening matches under the Country Cricket Association, for the Daily News Challenge Shield Competition, were played last Saturday, when Bell Block met Tikorangi at Tikorangl and Tarurutangi met Brixton on the latter’s ground. One performance worthy of note was the bowling of L. Bishop in the Brlxton-Taruru-tangi match, when he disposed of three of his opponents in three successive balls, thus doing the “hat trick.” Luncheon was provided by both the home teams. At the conclusion of the matches the ladles dispensed afternoon tea. thus adding additional pleasure to the day’s sport. It Is likely that some slight alteration will be made in the fixtures, owing to Waipapa withdrawing from the competition, but Tikorangi are entering a second team, embracing the available players of the Waipapa Club. This matter*will be dealt with by the executive at an early date. In the meantime the Tikorangi B team will fulfil Waipapa’s engagement at Tarurutangi on Sautrday next. BRIXTON v. TARURUTANGI.
