ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DROWNING ACCIDENT. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Nov. 6. Yesterday morning, while attempting to cross the gap that has existed in the old West Shore bridge since the recent collapse of three spans, Martin Dawson Johnston, aged 46. captain of a trawler, overbalanced and fell into the channel. Ho was carried away by the current and drowned. He tried to walk oCtors tho gae and water pipes which supply West Shore from Napier. The body has not been recovered. A BODY RECOVERED. Greymouth, Nov. 6. The body of the boy Beale, who was drowned on Labor Day in the Domain lagoon, has been recovered. TRAM CONDUCTOR’S DEATH. Wellington, Nov. 6. - At the inquest on Lionel Ernest Archar, tram conductor, who was killed in Lambton Quay on Saturday, the verdict of the coroner, Mr. Hunt, S.M., was that his death was due to hig having been accidentally struck by the centre pole which changing the route number, which should not have been altered at that time.
