CHEAPER BUTTER. By Telegraph.—Pr*ss Assn.—Copyright. Alelbourne, Nov. 6. The wholesale price of butter has been reduced 5s a cwt. LOSS ON STATE TRAWLERS. Sydney, Nov. 6. The Public Service Board's report upon the State trawlers says it ie quite impossible to continue the industry so as to show a profit on the invested capital if continued at all. it should be limited to three trawlers. For the year ended June last the trawlers were run at a loss of £41,198, making the accumulated loss of £115,952. NEW ORIENT LINER. Sydney, November 7. The Orient Company announces that their 20.000 ton vessel will accommodate 250 of the 600 saloon passengers in single berth cabins. The vessel will have accommodation for 1250 passengers, and space is being provided in insulated holds for 4000 tons of refrigerated cargo. MAILS BY AEROPLANE. Brisbane, November 7. The first mail aeroplane from Charleville to Cloncurry arrived at the latter town ten minutes ahead of the scheduled time. The aviators were warmly welcomed at. Longreach, at which place rhe letters, arrived from Charleville within 16 hours instead of the -six days as previously taken for the journey. [Cloncurry and Longreach arc the termini of lines, running from Townsville and Rockhampton inland, and Charleville is near the end of a similar line frbm Brisbane.] DROWNING ACCIDENT. Sydney, Nov. 6. Charles Heath, who was unable to swim, fell from a sailing boat in the Sydney harbor yesterday and was drowned in the presence of three of- his brothers, who unsuccessfully dived for the body. RAID ON BOOKMAKERS. ■ Sydney, Nov. v. On Saturday afternoon, when business on the Alelbourne races was at its liveliest, the police raided and held possession for throe hours of the premises of 17 city bookmakers. They seized the books and detained visiting customers, and also booked telephone bets. They secured some hundreds of pounds. Most of the bookmakers were absent at Alelbourne, the businesses being run by deputies at the time of the raid.
