WON BY KING INGODA. VICTORY BY HALF A NECK. AN EXCITING FINISH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 7, 7.30 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 7. Light showers with alternating sunshine was experienced at Flemington for Cup day. There was a large attendance, including the Governor-GeneraT, the State Governor and several New Zealanders. The going was fair. Kuttabul made the pace early in the hurdle race. Ecarte came up fast in the last two furlongs and won decisively. Ecarte comes from Sydney. There was a great race in the High Weight Handicap. Weedah, who was lying fourth at the distance, won narrowly. St. Speed, was third a id Peithias twelfth. Valrona is owned by its trainer, Sid Ferguson. Adamant was scratched at 12.32 p.m. for the Cup. King Ingoda, on the outside. put in a great run from the halfmile and won narrowly from The Cypher, who ran a great race. Multi was ft moderate third,' and just beat Sister Olive. The first half-mile was. done in 51|ser., the next four furlongs in 53sec., the succeeding four in 52fiec., the last four in 51 sec,, and the last six in Imin. 16fsec. The winner is owned by Mr. Dubois, a Central Australian pastoralist, and Mr. Bennett, an Adelaide lawyer. Mr. Scobie is the trainer. He previously won with Clean Sweep. Alan Wilson, the rider, stated he h(ul a good run and covered more ground than anything eke.

Thirty-two starters. After a delay the field spread right across the course, find when they were dispatched Furious, Yacamunda, Even Song, Whittier, and Rivoli were the leaders, As the course proper was reached Yacamunda assumed command, and setting the pace, piloted the field along and, out of the straight. Along the back stretch Sinbad the Sailor. Master Vibrator, Molyneaux' and The Cypher were in the leading division, with Yacamunda still pacemaker from Whittier. King Ingoda and Rivoli were at that stage some distance back. Approaching the bridge Yacamunda cried enough, and Basella, took up the running, while The Cypher was making a forward move. Nearing the home turn Tangalooma, who was lying fourth, proclaimed himself, but his eflort was short-lived. Molyneaux led into the straight, with The Cypher, King Ingoda, and Mufti closing up rapidly. The Cypher’s name was called as the prospective winner at the distance, but King Ingoda promptly joined issue, and a magnificent struggle ensued. Ridden .vigorously, the two fought for the. lead for a furlong amid roars, and in the end King Ingoda. had the advantage, winning by half a neck from The Cypher, who was two lengths and a half in front of Mufti. Sister Olive was fourth, and Even Song, Purser. Paratoo, Heir Apparent, Wirraway, The Rover, Basella, Liberty Loan and Molyneaux next. Furious was a bad last. Time, 3min. 2SJsec. Double Bezique fell and broke its fetlock and was destroyed. Polynesian and Stare also fell. The rider, McLaughlin, sustained a splintered collarbone.
