The cricket match between Maclaren's team and Western Australia was resumed to-day in fine weather. When stumps were drawn on Friday, Maclaren's team was all out, in their first innings, for 190. The home side had the satisfaction of topping the visitors' first innings’ score by 44 runs. This was largely due to the steadfast play of Helndrech, who, going in fourth, carried out his bat for 91, and the resolute batting of Evans tor 53. The only other man to make a stand was Howard, who made 24. Freeman and Gibson bowled well, but without much sting. The former, employing a slow googly, took four wickets for 101.
