WESTOWN SCHOOL SITE.
MATTER BEFORE THE PREMIER. Matters in connection with the provision of a school site at Westown have advanced a further stage, and there is a possibility that something may be done in regard to securing a site, of four acres near the Belt Road. This question has been placed before the. Education Department and the Minister of Education on several occasions by the Education Board, stress being laid on the fact that suitable areas for the purpose, with the advancement of building in the suburban areas, are becoming more difficult to secure. On Friday. Mr. J. S. S. Medley, as president of the Westown Progressive Association, sent a telegram to the Prime Minister pointing out that this was the last chance of procuring land at a reasonable price in a suitable position, and emphasising that if they did not now take advantage of the offer there was a great chance that it might be lost. A reply was received from the Prime Minister stating that he had forwarded a telegram to his colleague, the Minister of (Education, and would confer with him on the subject within the next few days.
