The boisterous weather of last night interfered with the attendances at the various functions held by the Mardi Gras committees, but a fair measure of success was met with and all engagements were filled. At the Town Hall the A.S.A. committee held a very enjoyable plain and fancy dress ball. The decorative and lighting effects were beautifully carried out and the supper was excellent. The music by Fox’s orchestra was of the usual high standard. The 8.8.’s visited Te Wera and staged a very creditable concert programme, which was followed by a dance. Some difficulty was experienced in travelling to Te Wera on account of the Strathmore saddle, but the journey was safely accomplished. The sports committee held a dance at Kapuni, which, though not very well attended, was a pleasant little function.

“Will they grow cotton successfully in Australia?” is a query, but there is no question about the Cotton Dress Fabrics at Amesbury’s.
