TRIAL MARRIAGE.
SCHOOL CHILDREN ELOPE. PARTIES IN THEIR TEENS. SENSATION IN AMERICA'.. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 3, 9.5 p.m. New York, Nov. 3. At Lafayette, Indiana, an unusual marriage scheme, evolved by local school children, has resulted in three elopements within two days from one school. The participants range from 14 to 17 years of age. One couple has already been arrested, and are being brought back from Kansas City. The idea originated in clubs, and after much discussion six boys and six girls signed a document in which each boy and his sweetheart agreed to marry, being pledged to grant divorce after six months on being requested by either party. Three couples became frightened and refused to elope. The affair caused a sensation. The police in several States are being asked to look out for the trial marriage pilgrims.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
