EX-SOLDIERS AND POLITICS.
NO OFFICIAL CANDIDATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 3. The Returned Soldiers’ Association briefly discussed the question whether members should stand for Parliament. Mr. Graham, who introduced the subject, called attention to the fact that Sir A. Russel] was standing, and to the fact that the constitution of the association laid down clearly that the body was a non-political one. The delegate pointed out that Sir A. Russell was not standing as president of the association. It was suggested a motion be passed making it clear that Sir A. Russell, Colonel McDonald, and other ex-soldier candidates were not in any way connected with the association. Eventually the matter was talked out, the opinion being expressed that it was undesirable to draw further attention to
