It is reported from Eastern Galicia that the Poles, who occupy the country, are holding elections on Sunday as a preliminary to annexation. The Allies promised to determine the future status in accordance with the wishes of the people, of whom four million are Ukrainians. The Allies explicitly declared the country outside Poland, and that Polish occupation was merely a temporary measure. The Polish action is the result of the Allies’ delay in settling the question.
