HELD UP AT AUCKLAND. SEVENTEEN STEAMERS. NEW AWARD RESENTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The crews of the Union Company’s pteamer Kurow and two of the Northern Company’s- boats have given notice that they are not working under tne new award. Thirteen of the Northern Company’s vessels are now affected, and the Union steamers—Kurow, Arabura, Kaiapoi and Waipori—are without crews. The cooks and stewards of the vessels affected will be paid off, but the officers and engineers are being kept standing by. The. trouble is not interfering with cargo operations on the Kurow, Wai tomb or Kaiapoi. TROUBLE AT LYTTELTON. Christchurch, Last Night. The Wingatui and the Karori, which were to have left Lyttelton to-night, were held up. The Wingatui carries an extra man in the stokehold and he signed off to-day. The company was unable to replace him and the men declined to take the ship to sea uijtil a man was found to fill the vacancy. The Karori’s men are alleged to have no grievance, but they held the ship up out of sympathy with their comrades in the Wingatui. No other vessels at Lyttelton are so far affected. FIREMEN QUIT VESSEL. Wellington/ Last Night. The Union Company’s passenger and cargo ship Komato was unable to sail to-night for Westport owing to a shortage of firemen, four of whom gave notice, which the company alleges was insufficient, but the men quitted. ONEHUNGA SERVICE. THE RIMU HELD UP. The shipping trouble has interrupted the New Plymouth-Onehunga service, the Northern Company’s Rimu being added to the list of vessels held up. Yesterday the local office of the company received the following telegram from the head office at Auckland: “Owing to the seamen refusing to work under the new Arbitration Court award, which came into force on November 1, the sailing of the Rimu has been indefinitely postponed.”
