A Paris cablegram announces the death of M. Alfred ‘Capus, the dramaPolice Sergeant J. S. Martin, of New Plymouth, is to relieve Sergeant Henry, of Hawera, who is away on leave, A Dunedin message says that Sir Joseph W’ard has been advised of the death of his brother, late postmaster at Christchurch. Mr. John Burns, Government Stamp Printer, will voluntarily retire on superannuation at the end of next January, after forty years’ service. Mr. Burns has been on the management staff of the Department for twenty years, and has been overseer of two branches. He first joined the Government Printing and Stationery Department as an apprentice in 1883. and since 1906 has been in charge of 11 ? stamp printing branch.
