YOUNG PEOPLE’S WELFARE.
The Young Citizens’ League movement which has been launched in the Dominion gives promise o£ achieving results that should prove of the utmost benefit to the country. All the constituton of this League requires, said Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in his admirable address in New Plymouth on "Wednesday evening, is the observance of the two laws: “Love God,” and “Love one another”—the basis of all true citizenship. This league, composed as it is of children, should be welcome to parents. It is started in the various schools, is capable of beneficially affecting the young in their school career and throughout after-life, especially when heartily backed up by the teachers. In effect, its object is to inculcate loyal Christian service, and as the children-reach the adult stage they are in a position to influence for good the relations between capital and labor, as well as between all classes. It is the young of to-day who will become the citizens of the future, and such as the citizens are, so will the' country be. It is, therefore, pleasing to know that a branch 1 of the league is to be formed in New Plymouth and elsewhere in Taranaki, and the cpmmunity is greatly indebted to Mr. Cutten for his helpful presentation of the benefits of the league. In this labor of love he is exhibiting a public spirit worthy of high commendation.
