STRATFORD A. AND P. SHOW.

It is some time since such a large amount of interest has been evoked in the Stratford Show, to be held next month. The time has gone when exhibits in the main were owned -Jjy a few of the more wealthy breeders and farmers, and it is now generally recognised that one of the essentials in getting recognition as a breeder is to exhibit at A. and P. shows. The Stratford society, keeping this in mind, has adopted progressive measures and catered for all branches of the farming industry on lines which allow the individual to bring before the public eye the merits of the particular lines on which he is breeding. Exceptionally good competition is expected from the I two chief dairy breeds of the Taranaki district. While the Jersey is undoubt--1 edly the more popular cow at the pre- , | sent time, it behoves every breeder to .'strengthen the display exhibited and > keep in prominence the splendid qualifies which his favorite possesses.. The | Friesian, a breed which is creating a ' great deal of interest and the movements of which are being closely -followed by dairymen all over the country, is sure to be well represented. Following the progressive policy adopted by the Friesian Association, the adherents ( of the black and whites will not lose the opportunity of bringing into further , prominence the merits of Friesian cattle. Although the Ayrshire and Shortj horns are not as strong numerically in the Taranaki district as the Jersey amt Friesian, yet there are some remarkably ■ fine herds of both breeds. Breeders I should see to it that their sections are filled to the furthest extent possible, . and give the public the opportunity of ! seeing the fine points which owners are justified in knowing they possess. We would recommend all progressive farmers to get in touch with the secretary, procure a schedule, find out in which direction their interest lies, and make the most of a good opportunity by exhibiting their stock.
