BEAUTY OF TANGARAKAU.

PRESERVATION ENSURED. By Telegraph.—Pr°ss Association Wellington, Oct. 28. A clause added to the Finance Bill to-day changes the purpose of a reserve in the Taranaki iand district. Prior eo the passing of the Scenery Preservation Act, .1903, Sections 1 and 10, Block ill. Pouatu survey district, Taranaki land district, were made forest reserves with the view of preserving the scenery in the Tangarakau Gorge. It is now' desired to change the purpose of the part of the reserve up to the sky line from “Forest” to “Scenic.’’ The State Forest Service agrees to the purpose, which, with other reservationn for scenic purposes to be made in the Tangarakau Gorge, will adequately •protect the beauty of the gorge.
