CONCLUDING RESULTS. AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. Competition week ended at the St. Andrew’s Hall on Saturday evening, when another full house rewarded the committee who have provided the public with five enjoyable programmes, besides, it is hoped, arousing a fresh interest in New Plymouth in music and elocution. To-morrow evening an tne prize-winners will repeat the items in a grand demonstration to be held in the Workers’ Social Hall, when the medals and certificates of merit will be presented to the successful competitors by the Mayor (Mr. F. Passages from Lewis Caveii's “Through the Looking Glass” and Blake’s “Prologue to the Songs of Innocence.” Lottie Vickers (87 points) 1 Winnie McDougall (81 points) .... 2 Gordon Duff (77 points) 3 Also competed: Rena Pepper (73), Norah Ambury (73), and Norma Beal (59). The winner, as her marks indicate, gave a very fine rendering. VOCAL DUETS (15 and under). Connie Ericksen and Ellen Thomson (75 points) 1 Noeline Thomson and Phyllis Coker (73 points) 2 Phyllis Bennett and Joyce Waters, and Dorothy McKay and Isabel 7\l .uy (60 points), equal 3 PIANOFORTE DUETS (20 and under). Also competed: Miriam Hill (GO), Madeline Hogue ('6O), Emily Hoyle (59), Zetland Hardgrave (58), Phyllis Croker (55), Honorea Moon (55). Competition in this section was very keen. The judges remarked that the winner’s voice and phrasing were both good, but while the second girl’s voice was of better quality, her phrasing was not so good. HUMOROUS RECITATION (20 and under). Ruby Aitken (“Trials of a School Mistress”) 90 points 1 Lottie Valentine (“The Inventor’s Wife”), 86 points 2 Mildr’ed Ranger (“Just Like a Man”) 83 points 3 Also competed: Fred Steffensen (“Blime, Ain’t a Man Stiff?”) 82, and May McLeod (“Ask Mamma”) 81. An excellent performance was the judges remarks on this section.
