CONCILIATION COUNCIL.
COASTAL SHIPPING AWARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 27. The coastal shipping companies- cooks and stewards’ dispute was before the Conciliation Commissioner this/ morning. A deadlock was reached upon wages, the employers’ assessors declaring themselves unable to understand the union’s demand for increased wages while decreases wete being systematically effected by the Arbitration Court. The union representatives replied that they were prepared to fight the case out. A settlement was reached only on minor points, and the dispute was referred to the court.
