WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.

The Waikato Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneerlug Ltd,, reports as follows: Beef.—The market for beef continues jSteady at last week’s values, The export companies’ declaration of 20s per lOOlbs. for prime ox has spread a much needed feeling of confidence amongst graziers and in consequence thereof firm markets are certain to prevail. Mutton.—Mutton Of all grades still stells freely, preference being given to- shorn, lots. Store Cattle.—The markets for store .cattle have lost a little of their briskness. .Forward condition bullocks are still being sought fm. but stores of the same class are Inclined, to drag. Yearlings and two-year-olds are fah’ly steady -but only obtainable in small dots. Fresh conditioned cows are also in fair demand. In the empty heifer section, although values in comparison to recent rates are still low, competition seems to be growing keener and some very good sales have resulted. Store Sheep.—The markets all over are very bare of store sheep, although judging by the enquiry a good reception awaits them. With rumor vacillating between 8d and 9d for the coming season’s lamb, ewes with lambs at foot are naturally popular, although but few lots are so far offering. Attention has also been turned towards breeding ewes and In anticipation of high values ruling, combined with an apparent shortage in this class, many breeders have booked forward. A line of about 7000 due from Gisborne about end of January have practically all been absorbed in this manner and It seems as if more might be disposed of.
