Sir Alfred Mond supplies the Daily Chronicle with details of an Empire trade development scheme which ho submitted to Mr. Lloyd George’s Cabinet. He says some steps were taken in thin direction under the Trade Facilities Act, though a bolder scheme was needed. Therefore, he suggested the promotion of a loan of fifty or a hundred millions, guaranteed bj' the Imperial Exchequer, the proceeds to be, used to enable Crown Colonies, particularly Africa, to develop their resources. Sir Alfred Mond. pointing out that, the unemployed in Britain are costing nearly a hundred millions yearly, says the above scheme would do much to alleviate unemployment in Britain, and at the same time develop the resources of the Crown Colonies, especially former German possessions.
