ELECTION DATE.
DECEMBER SEVENTH PROBABLE. SESSION NEARLY OVER. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. . “It is a very easy question to ask, but in is not so easy to answer,” said the Minister, when he was asked by Mr. G. Mitchell (Wellington South) to state the date of the general election. “Can the honorable gentleman tell me when the session is going to come to an end?” Members: “Monday night;” “To-morrow week;” "Tuesday night.” Mr. Massey: “After our experience of the last , day or two, I am not able to suggest when the session will come to an end. I shall be able on the last day of the session to state definitely when the election will take place. If the end of the session comes on Monday night—and I believe it is possible—the election will take, place on Thursday, December 7, but it has not been finally fixed. I have to choose between holding it on December 6 or 7, or else postponing it until December 14, and 1 don’t care about doing that.” The Prime Minister gave the House a clear impression that the election date would be December 7.
