INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The building which has been identified with the spiritual life of many people in the Inglewood district for well nigh 50 years will be used for the last time on Sunday next. The work of demolition is then to be undertaken to make way for the new permanent church, which is to be erected in memory of the 140 men from the district who gave their lives in the Great War. The contract for the erection has been arranged, and it is hoped that the stone laying ceremony will take place on November 30 next. The Rev. Archdeacon Evans will preach in St. Andrew’s on Sunday next. Mr. Isaac Crowe, of Tarata. received a very hearty welcome from his many friend's here on his return from Scotland on Wednesday, whither he has been since June last, to revisit his native home after 34 years in New Zealand. Mr. Crowe went home via the Panama Canal and returned via Suez and Australia. Altogether, he enjoyed his trip, and has come back with his health as good as ever and a considerably enlarged fund of valuable information.
