DEVELOPING RESOURCES.
USE OF ENGLISH CAPITAL. THE GOVERNMENT’S HELP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. “I’m going to help you all I can,” replied Mr. Massey to a deputation to-day, which asked for the Government’s patronage of the proposed mission to England to enlist the aid of British investors in the development of New Zealand mineral resources.
Mr. Leigh Hunt, the spokesman, said it was proposed* to investigate fully the prospects of developing resources, such as iron, marble, timber, asbestos, mercury, oil products, carbide, copper, greenstone, manganese, and paper pulp. Previous feeble attempts had failed through insufficient capital. It was intended to fix on resources that would be sound propositions only. Mr. Massey said he would be glad to adopt whichever proposals were deemed practicable. He always advocated that English capital should be sent to New Zealand.
