EMPIRE PRODUCTS.

USE AT EXHIBITION.

IMPROVED PROSPECTS.

VOICE OF DOMINIONS.

By Telegraph.-—-Press Assn.—a&uyrifchtt. Received Oct. 26, 8 p.m. London, Oct. 25. The High Commissioner for Australia (Sir Joseph Cook) conferred with the Agents-General regarding questions relating to the British Empire Exhibition. It was decided to request the Australian representation upon the management committee to insist that the caterers should use Empire products as far as practicable. Subsequently Sir Joseph Cook and Sir James Allen and other High Commissioners met representatives of the executive council and the management committee of the exhibition and preferred a request for the representation of the Dominions on the management committee. It was explained the management committee was merely an advisory body, the executive council holding the chief executive functions. As a result of the meeting it is expected that in the course of a few days the Dominions will be invited to appoint representatives to the executive council. It is probable also, in conformity with a suggestion, that the Hign Commissioners will be appointed, with the Dominions’ representation, for tne purpose of inquiring into the whole question of management by the executive council, including supplies for caterers and other matters, with regard to which the Dominions are dissatisfied.

The necessity for representation by the Dominions was exemplified at today’s meeting by the production of a report by a British official regarding the availability of Dominion products, in the course of which were many misleading statements. The executive council stated it had not been influenced by the report, nevertheless the position would be more satisfactory to the Dominions when vouchsafed a direct voice in the management of the exhibition. — Aus.-N.Z.
