DIOCESAN CONFERENCE.

DUKE REFUSED ADMISSION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, October 24. The Bishop of Oxford informed the Diocesan Conference that he had requested the Duke of Marlborough who, as Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire was an ex-offico member, not to attend because the Duke did not possess the status of a Communicant. Presumably this step was taken because the Duke, after a divorce remarried during his first wife’s lifetime. The Duke’s solicitors state that the Duke possessed the status of a communicant with the sanction of parish priests of both Oxfordshire and London with the full knowledge of the proper ecclesiastical authority.
