INDIAN UNREST.
THE POSITION ANALYSED. By Telegraph.—Trass Assn.—Copyright London, Oct. 24. The latest telegram from the Viceroy of India to Lord Peel, Secretary for India, points out that the Moslems in several provinces of India are celebrating the triumph of Turkey. It is significant that the Hindus are holding aloof from the celebration. Tn the North-West Frontier Province the vernacular press has succeeded in convincing Moslems that Britain is now Islam’s sole remaining enemy. Moslem hotheads in Delhi are also guilty of wild talk. The principal present anxiety is the unrest among the Sikh reformers, which has resulted in a serious increase of crime in parts of the Punjab, even by ex-soldiers. It ie anticipated that good crops and the consequent fall in food prices will help to allay the tension. The non-co-operation movement is now quiescent. Nationalist disagreements regarding participation in the Legislative Councils are likely to split ijie Congms io December.
