AERIAL BASE.
DOMINATION OF GIBRALTAR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, October 22. The transformation of the rode of Gilbraltar to the greatest aerial base in the world, whence aeroplanes will be ever ready to support naval operations and undertake a long distance offensive are proceeding apace, according to the Aeronautical Journal. The engineers have perforated the rock in all directions in order to protect it from enemy fire. They have constructed a spacious place in the centre for the storage of petrol and munitions and workshops from which lead numerous tunnels. At the exits from these they have constructed platforms enabling planes to take off or land. The several stages will be connected with monster lifts. It is considered that when completed the domination of- the Straits will be secured.
