COOKS AND STEWARDS.
THE NEW AWARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 21. The Arbitration Court’s awards made in the Wellington cooks’ and stewards’ dispute and award may be filed in other -districts as the court directs. The wages are as follows:—Second stewards £l4 13s 4d a month, chief saloon stewards £l3 3s 4d, steward in charge on vessels carrying three classes of passengers £l4 13s 4d, first-grade assistant £l2 13s 4d, fore-cabin steward £l3 13s 4d, second gra-de assistants £l2 3s 4d, pantrymen £l3 13s 4d, second pantrymen where three or more are employed £l2 13s 4d, assistant stewards on cargo vessels £l2 3s 4d. night-watchman £l4 3s 4d, cadets under seventeen £4 16s Bd, between seventeen and nineteen £7 Gs Sd. between nineteen and twenty-one £8 Ils Sd, saloon stewardess £9 Ils Bd, assistant £6 Ils Sd; fore-cabin stewardess, £9 Us 8d; overtime, 2s per hour, cadets Is per hour; hours at sea, ten daily, worked as required within fifteen hours from individual time work commenced for day; hours for cargo steamers, stewards ten per day (stewards to be allowed weekly half-holiday and fourteen days annually on full pay). The award does not apply to steamers propelled by internal combustion engines for which articles are taken out :n New Zealand in any case of such vessels if employed in inter-State trades of Australia or trading with the United Kingdom, nor to sailing vessels wherever trading.
