TRAM PASSENGER KILLED

BY MOTOR CAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 21. . Mrs. E. Lintern, a middle-aged resident of Pe’tone, was knocked down by a motor-car at Lambton Quay, Wellington, last night, and died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.- Deceased was proceeding to the wharf to board the ferry steamer Maori for Lyttelton, and got off the tram by the Midland Hotel. She went round the back of the car and apparently stopped in front of an approaching motor, the driver of which tried to swerve, but the buffer caught Mrs. Lintern, who was drawn under the wheel before the car could be stopped.
