WORK FOR PARLIAMENT

IMPORTANT BILLS THIS WE£K»

DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL. THE COMMITTEE’S REPORT (By Wire. —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Oct. 21. Parliament has a busy week ahead of it if the session is to end on Saturday next as members hope it will. On Monday night the Finance Bill is due to make its appearance and the report of the committee on the Dairy Produce Export Control Bill is also expected. The committee has heard much evidence unfavorable to the Bill and there every indication that in the House the measure will find some strenuous opponents. The committee’s report, however, is expected to be favorable. The Rating Amendment Bill, now shorn of its most contentious provisions, seems assured of a quiet passage. Much the same thing may be said of the Arbitration Amendment Bill. This measure, as it has come back from the Labor Bills Committee, looks less provocative of Labor opposition than it did originally. The Government has several times assured the House that the Main Highways Bill is to be introduced this session. Of the important Bills this is the one which appears to stand in greatest danger of being dropped if there are signs of serious obstruction.
