AGRICULTURAL MATTERS.
THE TARANAKI SOCIETY. The executive committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society met at New Plymouth yesterday. Present: Messrs. W. B. Grant (chairman'), R. H. Pigott, G, W. Browne, J, Allen, F. Dodunski, C.' Hoskin, J. A. Kurth, C. W. Ruebe, W. Hall, J. Hamilton, S. Vickers, A. T. Moore, W. Morris. G. H. Bell, W. Hall, A. E. Washer, A. Turnbull, A. C. Sampson and H. Olsen. An application from the Community Club (per Mrs. A. R. Standish) asking for the use of the dining-room at the showgrounds and the society’s plant in order to enable the Community Club Committee to undertake the catering for the' annual field day of the senior cadets and territorials was referred to the grounds committee. An alteration in the date, of the Marton Show from March to February 28 was notified by the secretary of the Marton A, 'and' P. Society (Mr. Arthur Way), who also thanked the Taranaki Society for drawing attention to the duplication of dates, as it was absolutely necessary for the success of shows to avoid clashing of dates. —Members of the committee expressed tbeil; appreciation of the action of the AlArton association, and the secretary wga instructed to reply Accordingly. • A copy of the suggested rules and other matters to be discussed at the Palmerston North conference was forwarded for the society’s information by Mr. W. T. Penny, acting-secretary of the proposed association of affiliated A. and P. Societies being formed for the purpose of governing agricultural shows. —Messrs. Grant and Hall, with -power to add to their number, were appointed the society’s delegates to the conference.
