Interest in the Band Mardi Gras .continues unabated, and. if enthusiasm counts for anything the ambitious object aimed at should be attained. At the Town Hall last night a fair house greeted the concert performance of the Band and Fire Brigade candidate’s supporters, and such was the fare presented that entertainments’ by this company should be popular m the fu* ture. Several artists were present from New Plymouth, Eltham and elsewhere. The opening chorus, “The Mardi Gras,” was effectively given by the company, arrayed in blue and white costumes. The programme was: Song, Mr. A. Vinsen; male- trio, Messrs. P. Casey, Healy, Bowden and company; song, Mrs. Massey; dance, Miss Myra Wilson; song, Master Broncho Wilson; song, Mrs. Buchanan; comic song, Mr. Bert Vinsen; club swinging, Miss Loi Kivell (country candidate); songs, Mr. P. Aitken; song, Miss Dolores Wilson; monologue, Mr. T. H. Chadwick; song, Miss Rona Kino; Mexican dance, Miss Tuke; song, Mr. P. Tunbridge; song, Miss Bessie Sheahan; comic song, Mr. Jack Cran. The accompaniments were played by Miss E. Moon, Miss D. Fitzgerald and Mr. <?. Fox. Fox’s orchestra played a couple of selections. Every item on the programme was encored, and the concert on the whole, was a most creditable effort. Probably the most popular item was the rose dance give by the /tiny Miss Myra Wilson, whose pretty and dainty performance was much enjoyed. While Miss Dolores Wilson (Eltham) sang “While London Sleeps” the stage was showered with coins and a goodly collection was taken up. To music supplied by Fox’s orchestra a ver/ enjoyable dance followed the concert.

The concert and dance held by the Sport? at Bird Road proved an enjoyable and profitable function. The A.'S.A. supporters also held a successful concert and dance at Mangatoki. A great day is expected frit the Ngaere Gardens on Monday, when among other attractions the Wanganui Salvation Army Silver Band will be in attendance to aid the Mardi Gras efforts. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. As a result of becoming caught in the belting at the Stanley Road Creamery this morning, Mr. T. E. O’Carroll was very seriously injured, and was admitted to the Stratford ’Hospital suffering from a fractured skull and a badly broken leg. The leg was amputated below the right knee and Mr. O’Carroll’s condition is grave. Mr. O’Carroll has been manager of the Stanley Road creamery for several years, and his ill fortune will be’ regretted by his many friends.
