BOOM-TIME VALUES.

PLEA FOR REDUCTIONS. SOME . ACTION PROMISED. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. “I have already discussed this with the Valuer-General,” said Mr. Massey when asked to-day to make a percentage reduction in valuation in districts valued during the boom period. He is of opinion that it would be very difficult to revalue and arrange for reductions on a percentage basis, especially in connection with districts that have been revalued during the last year or two. However, in the Finance Bill, which will probably be introduced today, there is a clause providing that the Valuer-General may make reductions in individual cases, even in connection with those districts where recent revaluations have taken place. That, I have no doubt, Parliament will agree to and it will go some little way at anyrate towards remedying the difficulty.”
